Heather Walker
Senior Data Journalist, Culture Amp
Dr. Heather Walker is a Senior Data Journalist on the People Science team at Culture Amp. With a Ph.D. in Disability Studies and an M.S. in Disability & Human Development from the University of Illinois–Chicago, she brings academic-level training in research design, qualitative and quantitative methods, and thoughtful intersectional analysis to organizational data.
Since joining Culture Amp in 2022, Heather has worked directly with North-American companies before pivoting full-time into people-science research. She analyzes billions of employee survey responses to identify patterns across engagement, leadership dynamics, mobility, well-being, and workplace evolution. She translates complex data into storytelling that helps companies build workplaces rooted in evidence rather than assumptions.
Before Culture Amp, Heather taught courses on accessibility, universal design, and social justice, which sharpened her lens on how structures shape experience and outcomes. Her writing probes the reality of employee experience: why engagement dips, what drives “job-hugging,” how career stages impact mobility, and what coaching, AI, and shifting expectations mean for tomorrow’s workforce.
